　　Kaohsiung Broadcasting Station AM1089 KHz first went on the air on June 28, 1982. Transmissions on FM94.3 MHz began in 1991, with coverage extending from the Hengchun Peninsula to the Chianan Plain including Kaohsiung County, Kaohsiung City, Tainan County, Tainan City and Pingtung County. Broadcasts begin everyday at 6AM and finish at 12AM midnight, providing 18 hours of public service information every day to southern Taiwan.

　　KBS is a government-owned radio station operated by the Kaohsiung City Government’s Department of Information. It offers a wide variety of programming for the general public and it plays an important part in local communities by providing lively city government and lifestyle information. Praised as “The general public’s clever housekeeper and the speedy courier of life”, it has not only won the support of southern Taiwan’s residents but has been very successful at the Golden Bell broadcasting awards in recent years. It has now won the most awards of any single radio station for several straight years and was also voted the best radio station in southern Taiwan.

　　The traditional broadcasting equipment was completely upgraded in 2004 to set up a digital recording studio and a comprehensive web radio system. We can now provide digital broadcasts of perfect quality to our listeners from around the world no matter where they may be.
