In the 2009 Broadcast Golden Bell Awards, Kaohsiung Broadcasting Station (KBS) has been nominated in four categories: “City Walkman, Bravo 943” is nominated for the Creative Radio Marketing Category; “City Holiday” produced and hosted by Li Ke is nominated for the Best Program Featuring Local Cultures and the Best Planning and Best Writing; “Kid’s World” hosted by Lin Li is nominated for the Best Program for Children and Youth.

To keep updated with the news of Typhoon Morakot, KBS extended its broadcast to non-stop 24-hour-running programs for 96 consecutive hours and produced a live "Typhoon Special Report” program. The program kept audiences updated with the newest typhoon news throughout the day.

In the 2008 Little Broadcast Golden Bell Awards, KBS was nominated for two categories: Best Marketing for a Children and Youth Broadcasting Station for “Towards the World Games - Kaohsiung Broadcasting Station Brings Happiness” and Best Sound Effect for a Children and Youth Program for “World of Stamps” (Chou). Two broadcast programs produced by student clubs under consultation of KBS have also been nominated for Best Creative Youth Broadcast Program for “Our Skies” and “Racing Kids".

To keep updated with the news of Typhoon Sinlaku, KBS extended its broadcast to non-stop 24-hour-running programs from 00.00 September 12th to 24.00 September 15th. The program ran for 90 consecutive hours and KBS also produced the live "Typhoon Special Report” program.

To market the 2009 World Games and the 2008 Warm Up Games, as well as meeting the community, KBS hosted the “Dance for the World Games - Mid-Autumn Festival Party” at the front plaza of KBS on September 12th (18.30 to 20.30).
